Trend Micro has licensed technology from Third Brigade, an Ottawa-based security software company specialising in host intrusion defence. Trend Micro plans to integrate the technology utilising the extensible plug-in architecture currently available in Trend Micro OfficeScanTM 8.0, its flagship corporate endpoint security solution.
Trend Micro has licensed Third Brigade’s advanced firewall and deep packet inspection technology, along with its ongoing security update service, This licensed technology, coupled with Trend Micro’s Web Threat Protection capability, provides OfficeScan users with a comprehensive endpoint security solution encompassing antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall and host intrusion defence. This protects users – while on and off corporate networks – with complementary, proactive protection from malicious attacks.
"The ability to easily extend security coverage to protect against new threats is a critical requirement for software protecting servers and desktops,” said Eric Ogren, president of the Ogren Group. "Third Brigade plugs into Trend Micro's new OfficeScan architecture to integrate network-type intrusion defences into host security for endpoints and servers. Intercepting attacks in the network stack before infections even reach the operating system is a good way to achieve strong security without impacting performance."
“Our OEM alliance with Trend Micro allows us to quickly deliver our best-of-breed host intrusion defence to the global enterprise market, and further entrenches our position as a market leader in this important and emerging segment of IT security,” said Wael Mohamed, President and CEO of Third Brigade. “We look forward to working with Trend Micro and its enterprise customers as our vision of the self-defending host comes alive.”
“Today’s corporate IT departments are grappling with how best to secure their mobile work force from intrusions without obstructing their productivity or access to Web-based applications,” said Thomas Miller, general manager of enterprise products and services, Trend Micro. “Through a rigorous evaluation process, we’ve concluded that Third Brigade’s technology is truly best-in-class, and is uniquely suited to meet the demanding requirements of our customers, and more broadly, the market as a whole.”
