Utimaco Extends Product Capabilities in Data Leakage Prevention Market with New Port and Configuration Protection Module
Utimaco – The Data Security Company, today announced the release of SafeGuard® Enterprise 5.3. A major highlight of this release is the addition of the new SafeGuard Configuration Protection Module for port and configuration protection which is now integrated within SafeGuard Enterprise and delivers on Utimaco’s strategy to offer an integrated encryption and data leakage prevention (DLP) solution.
Industry statistics consistently show that the most significant threat to organizations comes from within. With over 70 percent of corporate data residing on endpoints, pure gateway security solutions and written security policies alone cannot mitigate the risks of information leakage. Increased awareness of these internal security breaches, along with regulatory pressure, and the potential for brand damage and bad press, has fueled the rapidly growing DLP market.
Utimaco’s new SafeGuard Configuration Protection Module offers multi-layer security preventing data leakage via ports and removable media. The central management platform of SafeGuard Enterprise for PCs, removable media and PC port control enables granular policies and reduces the administrative burden. As no additional software is necessary to maintain the module it only requires minimal training.
“Understanding that enterprise customers need more than encryption on the endpoints to protect company data, Utimaco is committed to delivering DLP solutions that offer broad security coverage with ease of use and streamlined administration capabilities,” stated Malte Pollmann, Executive Vice President Products, Utimaco. “With SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3, we continue to execute against our product strategy and customer commitment providing the industry’s first and most comprehensive integrated encryption and DLP solution.
"Utimaco introduced port and device control, encryption and anti-data-leakage to its products. This deftly puts it in a narrow band of vendors that offer such integrated anti-data-leakage products,” stated Nick Selby, Research Director with The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation, in his report .
The new module delivers configuration protection to safeguard organizations against data loss and theft by monitoring all traffic in real time and applying customized security policies over all physical, wireless and removable devices. SafeGuard Enterprise couples intuitive, tamper-proof endpoint monitoring with device identification and blocking based on administrator-defined policies to protect all local, physical and wireless communications ports.
The device encryption and data exchange modules of SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 now include features that give customers the option of standalone encryption deployment to PCS, without the need for a central management infrastructure. With both central and non-central management options available in the same product, administrators now have unparalleled deployment flexibility.
