Broader range of UTM-1 Total Security appliances available with the most comprehensive network protection

Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced three new UTM-1 Total Security® appliances, giving enterprise sites of all sizes more choices to match the right solution with their security and performance needs. The latest additions to the UTM-1 Total Security family include a new model under $5,000 and higher performance levels.

"Businesses seeking to leverage the most out of constrained IT resources want out-of-the-box network solutions with all the key security features and services on a platform that can keep a network moving quickly and smoothly," said Bob Egner, vice president of product management at Check Point. "With UTM-1 Total Security, customers get the most comprehensive, powerful network protection on the market – based on the same VPN-1® solution that protects the Fortune 500 – in a single, easy-to-manage, cost effective platform."

High performance
The new UTM-1 Total Security 3070 appliance expands the performance of the UTM-1® line up to 4.5 Gbps. Customers can choose the right solution for their environment with appliances ranging in performance speeds from 400 Mbps to 4.5 Gbps. High performance levels across all models give customers more room to grow their business while maintaining optimal security.

All inclusive turnkey solution
The entire UTM-1 Total Security product line comes with the "Total Security" package, which offers either one or three years of comprehensive security services and reduced support rates. Each UTM-1 Total Security appliance comes complete with all the security protection, software and security updates and hardware to achieve the highest levels of network security. Integrated security protections include:

  • Industry-leading application and network-layer firewall
  • Site-to-site and remote access VPN
  • Gateway antivirus and anti-spyware
  • Intrusion prevention with type-based SmartDefense® security update and type-based protection
  • Web security with URL filtering and Web security protections
  • Messaging security and anti-spam, including Check Point’s six-dimensions of comprehensive messaging security

Streamlined deployment and management
UTM-1 Total Security appliances contains the security management capabilities found in Check Point SmartCenter® enterprise management suite all packaged within the appliance and without the requirement to install additional management servers.  It also contains setup wizards and other capabilities to simplify installation.

The three new UTM-1 Total Security appliances consist of the following models:

  • UTM-1 Total Security 270 featuring 400 Mbps firewall throughput, 100 Mbps VPN throughput, two managed sites and four ports
  • UTM-1 Total Security 570 featuring 1.1 Gbps firewall throughput, 250 Mbps VPN throughput, three managed sites and four ports
  • UTM-1 Total Security 3070 featuring 4.5 Gbps firewall throughput, 1.1 Gbps VPN throughput, five managed sites and 10 ports

"UTM appliances offer businesses a very attractive combination of comprehensive security applications, networking features, and manageability," said Charles Kolodgy research director of Secure Content and Threat Management research at IDC. "With the expanding reliance on Web based applications and corresponding increased bandwidth consumption, it is imperative the performance of organizations’ security measures does not become a productivity bottleneck. The new Check Point UTM-1 Total Security appliances provide customers more choice in meeting their needs."

In a related press release, Check Point also announced the new Check Point Power-1™, a line of Internet security appliances offering the best price-to-performance ratio with a high level of security for large enterprise sites and data centers. Combined, these two lines enhance Check Point’s hardware-based product portfolio to provide complete coverage from small offices to the data center.
