Top Layer Provides Real Time Protection from Cyber Threats at Thomas Miller

Top Layer Networks, a global leader for high performance intrusion prevention solutions, has announced that the Thomas Miller Group has deployed its IPS 5500 E-Series as part of its proactive security strategy to protect its network assets from the increasing number of Internet exploits.

Thomas Miller is a leading provider of management and agency services to mutuals, captives and insurance capital providers in the UK and had been relying on an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to provide network security. The increasing number of false positive events and its intensive management, compounded by the rising frequency and complexity of attacks, led Thomas Miller to seek a proactive solution that would provide real time protection against all forms of attack without impeding network performance.

Paul Hamilton, Head of Network Services at Thomas Miller explains, “ We were losing faith in the IDS to defend the network as the number of false positives events increased; administration and management of which was draining resources. We evaluated several IPS vendors extensively but it was clear that only the Top Layer product could match our demanding criteria. It gave us the performance, breadth of protection, depth of granularity and ease of management that we demanded to restore our confidence in network integrity.”

Positioned on the perimeter of the network, the IPS 5500 E-Series has given Thomas Miller the proactive protection it required and in addition, has heightened the visibility of network operations, which in the financial section with high volumes of traffic containing sensitive information, has been particularly valuable to the company.

“ Top Layer has provided us with a greater visibility of our Internet presence and eradicated the false positive events that previously beset us," continued Paul Hamilton. " Knowing we have the broadest range of protection against any form of attack allows us to operate more productively

and competitively, safe in the knowledge that the assets of Thomas Miller are being fully protected."

“ As the threat landscape continues to evolve, enterprises are realising that they need to improve the protection of their infrastructures from the increasing number and complexity of attacks or risk their network being compromised, “ said Matt Percival, Sales Director, EMEA, Top Layer. “ The IPS 5500 addresses this critical business requirement by providing proactive real time three-dimensional protection against all dimensions of attacks without compromising network performance. “
