From the very beginning of the Websense acquisition of SurfControl, the company has pledged to protect the investment that customers have made in the products of the acquired company.
The assessment of the newly expanded product portfolio has led to the End-of-Life schedules of several products, and even though new sales of these will be discontinued in the near future, support will continue for an extremely generous period, to allow these customers to properly evaluate their best options for adoption of another security solution.
The following products will be continued as a formal part of the Websense offering:
- WebDefense
- MailControl
- E-mail Filter for SMTP
These products will not be offered for new sales after January 8, 2008:
- Enterprise ThreatShield
- Web Filter Appliance
- RiskFilter
- E-mail Filter for Exchange
In addition to the four products listed here, the following products will be supported until at least December 2011:
Websense has pledged unwavering support to SurfControl customers, to offer them the most stable environment to continue operating in during the integration of the two companies, with the following promises:
- Continued support for SurfControl's Web Filter and Mobile Filter
- Continued investment in development of E-mail Filter, MailControl and WebDefense
- Enhanced Web Filter and Mobile Filter with Websense URL database
- Price protection on the first renewal of SurfControl Web Filter and Mobile Filter subscriptions
- Forums for on-going customer communication, focusing on the quality of support and product direction
