Citrix Application Delivery Infrastructure Supports Remote Access to Microsoft Windows Essentials Business Server

Citrix Access Essentials Delivers Windows Applications to Remote and Mobile Workers

Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in application delivery infrastructure, today announced it is providing remote access to applications running on the upcoming Microsoft Windows Essential Business Server, previously known as Windows Server code-named “Centro,” with Citrix Access Essentials™.

With remote and mobile workers representing up to 25 percent of a mid-market firm’s user population, companies using Windows Essential Business Server and Access Essentials will gain tremendous flexibility and competitive advantage through the ability to deliver critical line-of-business applications over the Internet to employees in any location, at any time, even for companies with limited IT resources.

Citrix Access Essentials will provide an additional server role within Windows Essential Business Server, capable of providing offsite personnel with convenient, secure and responsive remote access through an Internet connection and a standard web browser. Users merely point their web browser at a pre-defined secure web site to find their choice of Windows applications available from Windows Essential Business Server. Simple rules dictate which applications a user sees based on their role in the organization.

“Mid-sized organizations need to more easily manage the delivery of Windows applications to increasingly large and important mobile workforces,” said Steven VanRoekel, director of Windows Server Solutions at Microsoft. “The Citrix Access Essentials Server Add-In complements Windows Essential Business Server web-based remote access and Terminal Services capabilities, helping customers address that need efficiently and cost-effectively.”

Remote Access for the Mid-Market
Access Essentials is capable of accommodating up to 75 offsite users and features easy, wizard-driven installation and configuration as part of its integrated setup—all administered from the Windows Essential Business Server console. Remote sessions are tightly coordinated with the Internet Security and Acceleration Server for optimum performance and security. So too are multi-server automatic load balancing and profile management attributes that take full advantage of the underlying Active Directory centerpiece. The built-in monitoring and alert functions transparently communicate with Windows Exchange Server 2007, ensuring quicker response time.

“By delivering corporate applications to home workers, mobile salespeople and remote office locations without sacrificing performance or security, Citrix Access Essentials is the perfect complement to Windows Essential Business Server,” said Nabeel Youakim, vice president and product line executive, Delivery Systems Division, Citrix Systems, Inc. “Windows Essential Business Server is uniquely positioned to bring tremendous value to mid-market businesses—with a flexible, integrated solution that won’t tax IT departments.
